PHILIPPINES - Severe weather

• Strong winds and heavy rains have been affecting northern and central Philippines over several days, due to the Southwest Monsoon enhanced by the Tropical Cyclones CHAN-HOM ("FALCON“) and LINFA ("EGAY").
• As of 14 July (NDRRMC), there are 16 dead and over 8,600 families affected in Luzon and Visayas.
• Over the next 24 h more heavy rain and thunderstorms, and possible consequent flash floods and landslides, may still affect some areas of Luzon.

CHINA, JAPAN, REPUBLIC OF KOREA, DPRK - Tropical Cyclone CHAN-HOM

• CHAN-HOM made landfall in Zhejiang province (China) on 11 July, as a strong Typhoon, then reached the province of South Hwanghae (DPRK) on 12 July, weakened into a Tropical Storm. Strong winds, heavy rains and storm surge affected eastern China, Ryukyu islands (Japan), Republic of Korea and DPRK.
• As of 14 July, over 1 million people were preventively evacuated, 3,600 houses were reported damaged and another 1,000 destroyed in China.

CHINA, PHILIPPINES - Tropical Cyclone LINFA

• LINFA crossed northern Luzon on 4-5 July as a Tropical Storm, then reached Guangdong (China) on 9 July, as a Typhoon. As of 10 July, 56,000 people were evacuated and 300 houses were reported destroyed in Guangdong.

JAPAN - Tropical Cyclone NANGKA

• NANGKA is moving towards Japan, strengthening. Over the next 48h, it is forecast to continue moving northwest intensifying, then it may start slightly weakening, as it approaches southern Japan on 16 July.
